Unit 35 – Task 3 – P6

Copyright – this gives the owner of a piece of work the right to decide what other people can do with it. This means that the owner can make money from the sale of their work. It means then than the work can only be copied with the owner’s permission. If someone copy’s the work without the owner’s permission, this may lead to a fine or maybe even imprisonment.

Example of copyright – if someone was to copy the bugs bunny picture and use it on their product without permission form warner bros. then this would be copyright and they may be fined or imprisoned.

Registered trademark – this allows people to distinguish between products from one business to another. This may be a name, word, logo phrase or design. Only things then made by that business can have the product trademark on it.

Example of registered trademark – coca cola is a registered trademark name and no other business may use this, or similar names. For example you need a different name like Pepsi, which is not similar to coca cola.
